India’s urban landscape is witnessing a major transformation, with women professionals driving the next phase of workforce mobility and accommodation demand.
According to recent data from Justdial, a local search platform, searches for working women hostels surged by 93% across the country between January–July 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
The most significant growth in working women hostels searches was seen in Pune (+178%), Bangalore (+168%), and Ernakulam (+109%), followed by Mumbai (+89%), Delhi (+89%), and Hyderabad (+46%).
The trend reflects the growing need for safe, affordable, and accessible accommodation as more women return to offices and take up professional opportunities in India’s leading employment hubs.

Parallelly, searches for hostels for working men rose 13% pan-India, suggesting continued relocation activity among male professionals in major cities.
Strong Growth for Working Women Hostels in Pune, Bangalore, and Ernakulam
The broader category of “hostels for women” also saw a 61% increase in searches nationwide, led by Delhi (+77%), Pune (+62%), and Ernakulam (+58%).
On the other hand, “hostels for men” recorded an even sharper 97% rise, driven by strong growth in Pune (+180%), Delhi (+161%), and Bangalore (+130%). These figures indicate a larger shift toward shared, community-oriented urban living among younger professionals.

Rising Women Entrepreneurship Mirrors Mobility Growth
Complementing this rise in working women hostels demand, Justdial reported an 8% year-on-year increase in women-led business listings as of July 2025.
This underscores the growing entrepreneurial participation of women, aligning with broader trends of economic empowerment and urban mobility.
The upward trend in searches for working women hostels underscores how India’s evolving work culture is fostering greater inclusion.
As safety, accessibility, and opportunity continue to converge, women professionals are increasingly shaping new patterns of urban living, entrepreneurship, and workforce participation across India’s cities.
